The one in the middle is quite a rare beast, i've read it's one of the best short zooms and can replace the wide-angle and standard 50 at once.

Certainly, the first few times I've used it I can't really see a difference between it and the primes; certainly much better than the Tamron adaptall 2 28-50. I don't think I'll throw my other lenses away yet, though........ You could, in theory, carry it with the Olympus 50-250mm zoom (which is, I think, of similar rarity) and be covered for virtually everything with two lenses (as long as it wasn't too dark as the long zoom is an f5 max). In the real world, of course, people went for a 28-80 and a 80-200 combination-but Olympus never made a standard zoom going down to 28mm :(
This was the first one I'd seen on sale; though, needless to say, another couple have popped up since!

Same problem here: i keep grabbing the Minolta primes over the high-end zooms, the collector in me wants them all though!

Funny, one popped up on the dutch "marktplaats": link.marktplaats.nl/m887545287

To me the 35-70 would be the most useful. :D (Big Grin)

Which would agree with what most people thought-this focal length zoom, although made by several manufacturers, is a very rare find today. It does avoid an awkward lens change at the 50mm point, and possibly having to use a heavy long zoom to take a 70/80mm portrait!
